Extravaganza 4:30 - 800 pm

4:30 pm Entry and Welcome – Vermilionville
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Model Shoots and Village
6:30 pm – Dinner

An event that aims to live up to its name, the Friday night Extravaganza features photography, food, and even music, all in the name of a good time for the 2024 GSCCC Convention.  Vermilionville, the location for this event, is a 23 acre site on the banks of Bayou Vermilion in Lafayette.  This living history museum contains a number of original fully restored structures dating from 1765 through 1890 as well as recreations of other buildings of that time.  Against the backdrop of these historic structures, guests first will have the opportunity to photograph a variety of models, some depicting Mardi Gras royalty and maskers and others representing Acadian artisans and laborers.  Just as attractive for the shutterbugs will be the moss-draped landscape and the notable architecture.

Following the photo shoot, guests will enjoy Cajun cuisine by Momma, the recipient of Lafayette’s 2023 Community Choice Award for the Outstanding Chef.  To complete the cultural experience, diners will sway to Cajun music by the well-known Kevin Naquin Trio.  Should their feet feel a calling, they will be more than welcome to join other dancers in a Cajun two step.  From the welcome to the finale, the Master of Ceremonies, who hails from the Lafayette Photographic Society, will keep things moving and definitely keep things light.  Mais cher, it will be a “bon temps!”
